Rain or shine, Zambaleños give blood to save lives

Posted: July 15, 2025

MASINLOC, Zambales — Around 200 Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members from Zambales joined a successful blood donation held in Masinloc on July 5, 2025. Despite heavy rains and long-distance travel, many volunteers contributed to the humanitarian effort. The INC initiated this event in partnership with the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH), which oversaw the donor screening and blood collection.

Brother Prince Manuel, a minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo and one of the lead organizers, shared that some participants came from towns 40 kilometers away from Masinloc. He stressed that the INC members exerted effort to join the activity as part of their commitment to help their fellowmen.

“Some brethren came from distant local congregations, the farthest being 40 kilometers away. The INC conducts blood donations to help those in need of blood, whether members of this Church or not,” he said.

Dr. Kate Alyssa Principe, one of the doctors of James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, expressed her admiration for the participants’ effort despite heavy rains.

“I even wondered earlier, ‘Will people be able to attend the blood donation?’ because the rain was so strong … I expected only a few to come, so I was surprised that many still showed up,” she said.

For many INC members, joining such efforts reflects their charity and their faith.

“This activity is rooted in God’s teachings about love and compassion for others,” stated Brother Mateo Escobido, District Supervising Minister of INC in Zambales North.

One of the beneficiaries of the Church’s ongoing blood donation efforts, Mr. Danilo Paralis, a dialysis patient, expressed his gratitude to the INC Church Administration for its commitment to helping patients like him who need blood. “We are grateful to the Iglesia Ni Cristo Administration.”

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a Christian religion in more than 160 countries and territories and a community partner that helps.
