Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from the Ecclesiastical District of Alaska held a special worship service and an evangelical mission as highlight of their commemoration of the district’s tenth anniversary, which fell on March 5, 2026.
The Church Administration sent Brother Dennis C. Lovendino, minister of the gospel and the editor-in-chief of the Pasugo: God’s Message magazine, to officiate at both occasions, which took place in the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Anchorage on different dates.
Special worship service
During the special worship service on March 29, after the opening prayer, the letter from the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, was read by Brother Astrophel DP. Caraig, district supervising minister. In the letter, Brother Eduardo Manalo expressed gratitude to God for His guidance to the district throughout the years as well as his appreciation of the brethren’s abiding faithfulness to their divine calling.
Afterwards, Brother Lovendino delivered a timely lesson on how to overcome any hindrance brought about by the extraordinary events happening in the world. He emphasized that true Church Of Christ members must place their hope and trust in His promises, which He has fulfilled through His Messenger in these last days.
“Since hardships and sufferings are unavoidable, we need the strength that comes from our Almighty God, which we receive during the worship services,” reflected Silver Antonette Gonzales, a choir member from the Wasilla Group Worship Service (GWS). “That’s why, no matter what happens in our lives, we should continue to worship the Lord and serve Him to be sure of salvation.”
Evangelical mission
The evangelical mission for the proclamation of God’s words was held the following day, March 30. Officiating minister Brother Lovendino explained to the guests that, although there are various opinions and beliefs about how a person can receive salvation, it is solely the truths written in the Bible that should be used as basis. One of these, he emphasized, is the Lord Jesus Christ’s command that anyone who wants to be saved must enter His flock—the Church Of Christ.
The propagation activity was attended by the brethren, along with their guests, from nearby congregations such as East Anchorage, North Anchorage, South Anchorage, and West Anchorage. It was also witnessed through videoconferencing by guests and brethren gathered in the respective places of worship of the local congregations of Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Kodiak, and Sitka, as well as the Dutch Harbor, Juneau, and Wasilla GWS.
Jennizor Poblete, a member of the Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) from the Anchorage Congregation, enthused that to him sharing the faith “is one of the most meaningful things we can do for others. By helping them learn the truth, we can lead them to a better life—not only in this world, but most importantly in the life to come, the attainment of eternal life.”
For PJ Gamet, a choir member from the West Anchorage Congregation, it was a blessing to invite others to the evangelical mission as he and fellow brethren commemorated the district’s tenth anniversary. “Since Judgment Day is fast approaching, we need to make sure that our friends and loved ones learn the truth so that they, too, may receive salvation,” he said.
The evangelical mission drew a total of 80 guests, a number of whom expressed desire to continue listening to the biblical teachings upheld in the Church Of Christ. — With reports from Ricardo Santos and Jan Michael Deato
