The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Ecclesiastical District of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental held a Care For Humanity event on July 15, 2026 to extend aid to those affected by the recent Kanlaon Volcano eruption.

The eruption caused 10 barangays in Canlaon City to be covered in ash.

The Church provided around 400 relief packages containing food items to the affected residents.

Brother Raul Gonzales, district supervising minister, led the socio-civic activity at the house of worship compound of the Canlaon City Congregation.

“We were still recovering from the effects of the previous eruptions. Damage due to volcanic ash greatly reduced the number of crops suitable for harvest. It is now even more difficult for us to recover from its effects on our livelihood,” Ignacio Magallano explained. “I am thankful to the Church Administration for the aid given to us during this time of great need.”

On behalf of the brethren, Brother Gonzales expressed, “We are thankful to the Church Administration for the love and concern that they continuously extend to the brethren and even to our fellowmen who are greatly affected by calamities.” — With reports from Ariston Bayog-ang
