The Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) of the Ecclesiastical District of Marikina, in the Philippines, hosted a nutrition outreach program on August 8, 2026, at the compound of the Silangan Congregation’s extension in Mt. Maarat, Brgy. Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.
Present at the event, Brother Cyrus Jose E. Dizon, district supervising minister, and Brother Jake C. Jambaro, district Christian Family Organizations overseer, saw to its proper conduct and completion.
The congregation’s more than 100 Children’s Worship Service (CWS) members underwent physical check-up, which included measuring their body mass index. The check-up was led by pediatrician Dr. Gloria Dizon-Torrejos from the Doña Faustina Housing Congregation, Central District.
“It was nice to know how we are doing physically to help us take care of ourselves,” expressed Cassandra Yvonne Fetalino, a CWS member. “I learned what foods I must prioritize eating to keep me from getting sick,” added Archie Mariano Jr. in a separate interview.
Relevant interactive games facilitated by Christian Society for the Differently-abled (CSD) officers were played by the children awaiting their turn, as well as those who had finished their health assessment.
Lyndzy Ellys Clavite expressed, “I had fun with my friends and learned a lot in this activity.” For Shannaya Villafranca, the activity helped her value her well-being because “when I am healthy, I can continue performing my duty as a CWS choir member.”
Meanwhile, Loyda Amor N. Cajucom, dean of the New Era University–College of Nursing, led a seminar for the parents in the house of worship, while their children were undergoing health assessment.
“I truly appreciate the Church Administration’s effort to equip us, parents, with knowledge on how to take care of our children,” enthused Leizle Jane Dumancas. “I learned what meals I can prepare that are affordable yet nutritious,” she added.
It was explained that anyone diagnosed as undernourished will be monitored and assisted by CMPDS officers with healthy meals and medications in three months. Their parents would be given menus of affordable but nutritious meals to prepare for their children from Sunday to Friday. Then, on Saturdays, CMDPS officers would feed and monitor the condition of such children.
“We are thankful because the beneficiaries of this activity are the CWS members here in our congregation and their parents,” expressed Brother Frederick Cortez, resident minister. “We promise to God to keep our unity with the Church Administration in the activities they launch that we may remain firm in the faith as our salvation is at hand.” — With assistance from Marikina District Multimedia and Heldrin Baybayon
