The Local Congregation of Tokyo in the Ecclesiastical District of Tokyo, Japan, has established the Adachi Extension, with the approval of the Church Administration.

Its inaugural worship service was held at Hall 1 of Adachi Ward Labor Welfare Center in Adachi-ku, Tokyo on May 1, 2026.

The brethren from Adachi, one of the wards or special municipalities constituting the heart of the Tokyo metropolis, used to travel about an hour to attend worship services with the Tokyo Congregation. Now they have their own place of worship at 20-8, Sezaki 4-Chome Soka, Saitama.

Brother Amante P. Rodriguez, district supervising minister, officiated at the occasion. He preached a biblical lesson about having a firm faith in the right and authority from God of His Messenger, who is His instrument in proclaiming the pure gospel and leading people toward eternal salvation.

“This inaugural worship service is one of our responses to the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo’s call to ensure that the brethren’s faith and hope remain steadfast amidst the world’s worsening crises,” explained Brother Rodriguez in an interview. “By making the place of worship more accessible, the members can consistently fulfill their duties and strengthen their faith as they serve our Lord God.”

Brother Rodriguez further said, “This event became historic because today is the birthday of the Deputy Executive Minister, Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, and this is also part of our commemoration of the 140th birth anniversary of Brother Felix Y. Manalo, God’s Messenger in these last days.”

Buklod member Evelyn Uechi who helped find the place of worship shared, “The number of brethren here in Adachi-ku is growing, and everyone is working for a living—time is truly precious here.”

“The new place of worship greatly benefits the brethren, allowing many to attend by simply walking a short distance; this further boosts their zeal in serving God,” enthused Brother Renzo Cortiguera, resident minister. “We, in the Tokyo Local Congregation and Adachi Extension, promise to remain steadfast in worship and active in the work of propagation.”

New officers also took oath of their duties during the worship service. One of them, Vina Yamada, a finance officer, said, “For a long time, I have aspired to take on a Church duty—a calling I truly believe will bring peace to my mind despite the many trials I face.” She added, “I’m overjoyed that we finally have a place of worship in our area. This is something my fellow brethren and I have long hoped and prayed for, and now it has finally come to fruition.” — With assistance from Ed Ryan Santiago and Seiko Sasaki
