The indigenous Manide Tribe in Barangay Bakal, Paracale, Camarines Norte was the beneficiary of the Lingap sa Mamamayan (Care For Humanity) conducted by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) on March 31, 2026.

National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) regional head Christopher Barcia lauded the initiative, noting that “the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation’s engagement in Barangay Bakal is a dependable partnership that will help sustain the livelihood and rights of our indigenous communities.”

Held in coordination with NCIP, the said outreach program held as early as 6 am was complemented with a tree planting activity that same day wherein 120 coconut and 50 banana saplings were planted. The effort was supervised by site checker Regie Clark Caniastras, ensuring proper planting methods for sustainable growth. Both activities were led by Brother Roy dela Paña, Camarines Norte District supervising minister.

By 7:30 pm, just 300 meters away from the tree-planting site, the outreach program followed, with 71 residents benefiting from care packages containing rice, coffee, noodles, and toiletries, among others. They were even provided with solar-powered lamps, a vital resource for households without electricity, as well as toys that brought joy to the children.

“My family is in need of rice. Before, we had to walk far to buy it. Now we have food at home,” said Melvin Estoras. Rea Aragon, another recipient, shared, “I used to rely only on flashlights for light. Now, with solar lamps, our homes are brighter.”

Loving our fellowmen, regardless of race, is a commandment of our Lord God. It brings true joy to Him when we extend care to others,” said Brother dela Peña.

The Manide Tribe, living deep in the mountains of Paracale, described the activity as unforgettable. Beyond the immediate relief, the eco-farming project that they were likewise provided for a long time now is expected to continue sustaining long-term benefits for their livelihood and daily living. Resident Aragon expressed, “Were it not for the Iglesia Ni Cristo, our community would not have this kind of support. We are always remembered and loved.”
