The Ecclesiastical District of Central, in the Philippines, conducted a blood donation drive on July 28, 2026.
Held at the second floor of the district office located along Central Avenue, Commonwealth, Quezon City, the humanitarian activity collected 137 blood bags to directly benefit patients at the nearby New Era General Hospital.
The blood extraction procedure was strictly regulated through a formal medical screening process. This the medical practitioners from NEGH, Brother Reynaldo Donato and Dr. Mae Willrose Bontoc, among others, facilitated as well as the clinical extraction process with Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers and members assisting them.
“Because it was my first time, it felt a bit painful at first, but deep down I felt very happy because I know that the blood extracted from me will be of great use to others,” shared Rea Catungal from the Green Condo Congregation.
“When I decided to donate blood, I prepared the night before by sleeping early and eating nutritious food,” remarked Darlene Intac, another first-time donor from the Templo Central Congregation. “I was a bit nervous since it was my first time, but I was also excited because I really wanted to experience it.”
Brethren from adjacent districts also participated. Alma Malab-Salamanca, a regular donor from the Manggahan Congregation, Quezon City District, enthused, “I donate blood whenever there’s an opportunity. I do this to replenish my blood with fresh cells and, at the same time, help those who are in dire need. I call on my fellow citizens to also step forward and donate blood.”
