Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from Saipan Congregation in the Micronesia Ecclesiastical District marked the 40th anniversary of their congregation’s establishment with back-to-back activities on December 8, 2024.
In the morning of the said date, brethren flocked to their congregation’s house of worship for a special worship service.
Brother Luis Vergara, a minister assigned at the Church’s Overseas Missions Office, led the brethren in offering praises and thanksgiving to the Lord God. In his Bible-based homily, Brother Vergara emphasized that the milestone reached by the congregation is a manifestation of the fulfillment of God’s promises to His Messenger in these last days, Brother Felix Y. Manalo.
The officiating minister also exhorted the brethren to strive to fulfill their vow to hold fast to God’s teachings, remain firm in their faith, and zealously take part in all of the Church endeavors, for all these give glory to God.
Brother Roger Manzanilla, minister of the gospel, shared that the congregation’s anniversary “reflects four decades of God’s mercy, love, and grace towards the local congregation. It’s also a clear manifestation of His bountiful blessings. And today’s generation is harvesting the fruits of the labors of our brethren who came before us.”
Meanwhile, in the evening of the same date, brethren gathered at the Saipan World Resort for a formal event. They enjoyed musical performances featuring INC original music and cultural music their talented brethren showcased for them.
Also bringing inspiration was the revisiting of the congregation’s history via an audio-visual presentation, which included testaments of faith by some officers and members.
“We may have faced numerous trials, but out of God’s help and mercy, my family and I were able to overcome all of these. As the congregation celebrates its 40th anniversary, I’m happy that we are still able to perform our God-given duties,” expressed Celso Guevarra, pioneering member and head deacon.
“The Church Of Christ here in the Local Congregation of Saipan remembers the ever-abiding help and guidance of our loving Father throughout the years of the Church’s existence here on the island,” shared Brother Vilmar Espiritu, resident minister. “In every trial that they faced, they God did not abandon them. It is just proper and fitting to bring all the praises and glories back to the Almighty God.”
The congregation was established in December 7, 1984. Prior to its elevation to local congregation status, it was a group worship service (GWS). — With reports from Arewhy Valienta of INC News Section
