On January 10, 2025, the Ecclesiastical District of Zamboanga City, Philippines, marked the 100th birth anniversary of Brother Eraño G. Manalo (1925-2009), the then Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), by conducting baptisms.
The baptismal gatherings were held at three venues, which were the houses of worship of the Local Congregations of Bongao, Lamitan, and Canelar, with the latter serving as the host site.
Brother Nelcar Loberiano, the district supervising minister, led the study of God’s words, emphasizing the importance of being a member of the Church Of Christ. He highlighted that this is the nation recognized by God in these last days, to whom salvation and eternal life on Judgment Day are promised. Afterwards, the baptism was conducted.
“I’m very happy because I’ve now received the true baptism and have become a full-fledged member of the Church,” enthused newly baptized member Orlando Batusin-in Jr. from Boalan Congregation. “Many positive changes have occurred in my life when I decided to join the Church. I’ve left behind my former ways and embraced the true doctrines, as I believe that these will lead me to salvation,” he shared.
Another newly baptized member, Arwin Singco from the Canelar Congregation, said, “I thank God that my parents are members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. Since my childhood, they have taught me the importance of being a member of the Church and serving the Lord God. When I reached the right age, I was taught the doctrines of the Church and firmly believe that these are the true words of God, which will lead me to receiving eternal life.”
Xian Kyle Tadle, also a newly baptized from Sangali Extension, stated, “I deeply thank our Lord God for I’ve now received baptism. I promise to be even more dedicated to serving Him, doing what pleases Him.” — With reports from Julieto Bangiao
