Another local congregation has been established in the Ecclesiastical District of Agusan del Norte, Philippines.
The Basag Local Congregation, named after the village of Butuan City where it is located, was formerly an extension of the Local Congregation of Antongalon.
Brother Nicanor Bernardo Jr., district supervising minister, officiated at the new congregation’s inaugural worship service held on October 22, 2026.
In his Bible-based sermon, he exhorted the brethren to remain firm in their faith and fully devoted to the worship of the Lord regardless of life’s trials in order to ensure their salvation on the fast-approaching Judgment Day.
“I am so thankful that after years of waiting and meeting all the requirements, our extension is now officially a local congregation,” said the congregation’s head deacon Jeremias Ybas. “This is a great blessing from the Lord God.”
Brother Joed Morato, resident ministerial worker, expressed the collective sentiment of the brethren: “We thank the Lord God for this blessing bestowed upon us and the Church. We promise to remain steadfast in our faith, active in our service to God, and dedicated to doing what pleases Him.” — With reports from Michael Calo
