Church members and officers from the Local Congregation of Mount Pleasant, Ecclesiastical District of Southern Ontario, gathered at their place of worship on June 13, 2026, to participate in a Basic Life Support training seminar.

It was held in cooperation with the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), the Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN), and Buklod members.

The district CMDPS president, Christopher Pangilinan, from the Hamilton Local Congregation and a paramedic by profession, served as the principal resource speaker.

“The skills acquired by the brethren will directly enhance their capability to fulfill their specialized duties with confidence during emergency situations,” he said in an interview.

The training seminar included a workshop aimed to equip the attendees with vital hands-on skills in emergency responses, focusing on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation, and practical techniques to assist choking victims.

Congregation KADIWA president, Harrison Villareal, said, “The activity helps attendees have advanced public preparedness and increased immediate situational awareness.”

The participants received official digital certificates from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, validating their newly acquired skills.

“It was a very informative and empowering experience. Knowing how to respond in an emergency can truly make a difference,” said choir member, Mary Jane Dela Cruz.

“I liked how we had actual hands-on experience with performing compressions and simulated real-life scenarios,” Joren Abat, Technical Support for Videostreaming (TSV) officer, added.
