The Ecclesiastical District of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, in the Philippines, hosted a fire and safety awareness seminar via livestreaming on May 24, 2026.
Every local congregation in the district joined the meeting via videoconferencing connection to the house of worship of the Kabankalan City Local Congregation as the host site. A total of 2,017 Church officers attended the activity.
Allen James Morata, district inspection officer, first explained about preventing fire for the safety of the attendees’ houses and keeping the facilities of the Church, especially the houses of worship, safe from fire hazards. He also explained what should be done in case of fire and demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher.
Afterwards, Brother Abner Martinez Sr., district safety overseer, taught a Bible-based lecture about keeping the house of worship and other Church facilities safe and secure. He said in an interview: “This seminar aims to protect the brethren and to equip our district and local safety officers, as well as Church officers, with vital safety knowledge.
“We thank the Lord God and the Lord Jesus Christ for this seminar in our local congregation,” enthused Nove Batasin-in, local safety officer from the Himamaylan Congregation. “Through this, we learned how to respond during a fire emergency, including how to operate a fire extinguisher and utilize everyday materials like cloth and sand to safely extinguish flames.”
“I’m grateful to our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for the opportunity to take part in this seminar for practical knowledge and insights,” expressed Welyn Rose Derla, deaconess from the same congregation. “If a fire or any other emergency happens, I know how to properly react. This is vital not only for my household but also in caring for the houses of worship.” — With assistance from Evan Jeric Razon Ronquillo
