On May 1, 2026, the INC Children’s Museum hosted an eco-creativity workshop titled “Though I’m Little, I’m An Earth Hero,” thereby promoting environmental awareness among attendees.
Housed inside the Iglesia Ni Cristo Museum along Central Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines—the primary repository and place of exhibition of the Church’s significant artifacts and artworks—the INC Children’s Museum gathered 307 participants for the event, children and adults alike. Many of them hail from the Church’s housing communities, among others, across and around Metro Manila; they came from the Ecclesiastical Districts of Bulacan South, CAMANAVA, Cavite, Central, Metro Manila East, Quezon City, and Rodriquez.
Event hosts led a lively warm-up exercise after the opening prayer, followed by guest speaker Joenel Garcia, a faculty member of the New Era University. He introduced Aquaponics, a sustainable farming method that is a combination of aquaculture, such as raising fish, and hydroponics or soilless cultivating of plants in one recirculating system. Demonstrating its relevance towards creating a water-efficient ecosystem, children with their guardians were grouped into four color-coded teams—Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow—and proceeded to the activity stations.
Children created botanical bookmarks at the Eco-Art Station, listened to “The Great Kapok Tree” brought to life by voice actors, and learned formal farming techniques at the Hydroponics and Aquaponics Stations, thus planting lettuce seedlings and feeding fish.
Cathryn Forteza, a finance officer from Projects 2 & 3 Local Congregation and the mother of Julia Cristel, 12, and Juaquin Carloz, 7, said, “My children really enjoyed the activities. They also learned so much, especially through the puppet show, then there’s planting … It’s wonderful to see them being taught responsibility towards nature at a young age.”
The event’s proceedings were “all worth it,” said choir member Marietta Campomanes from Luzon Avenue Local Congregation. “My eight-year-old grandson Hanz Khalix and I truly enjoyed, the event’s a bonding experience for us.” Asked what he learned, Khalix replied, “I learned how to plant a seedling.”
“The activity more than served its purpose,” attested event host Christine Dyan Legaspi, a CWS teacher from the IBP Local Congregation. “Children learned to care for nature as Earth Heroes. Their discipline, concern, and unity were nurtured to practice proper waste disposal, planting, conserving natural resources, and maintaining cleanliness while their faith was strengthened.”
Among other ways in celebration of the birthday of the Deputy Executive Minister, Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, the said workshop was showcased alongside the INC Production Company’s (INCPC) live orchestral music, INCTV’s interactive quiz show, and CEBSI Films, also in celebration of its 10th anniversary.
