On January 12, 15, and 16, 2025, eight local congregations and four group worship services (GWS) in the Ecclesiastical District of Central Europe hosted medical missions that were held at their respective house of worship compounds. Brethren availed of the services offered by the district’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) members.
In the Local Congregations of Amsterdam, Berlin, Bonn, Dordrecht, and Hamburg, along with Meissen GWS, Lübeck GWS, and Freiburg GWS, the said activity was held on January 12; in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on the 15th; and in Munich, Frankfurt City, and The Hague GWS, on the 16th.
CMDPS members in each of the sites first oriented the brethren about the importance of having a healthy lifestyle and regular health check-ups. “Regular checking of blood pressure and blood sugar helps prevent contracting heart ailments, kidney failure, and other illnesses,” said CMDPS officer Grace Palabrica.
“Exercise regularly, stop smoking, eat less salty food, avoid alcoholic beverages, and, above all, never forget to pray to God and if sick, request to ministers, deacons or deaconesses the anointing of oil,” explained nurse Jessie Joel Lopez of Meissen GWS.
“Through activities such as this medical mission, we hope to encourage the brethren in taking time to check on themselves and see how they are doing physically,” said district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer Brother Scott Agustin, adding, “If we are physically well, we will all the more be able to stay active in fulfilling our duties that is beneficial to the Church.”
This socio-civic activity was held in commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of Brother Eraño G. Manalo, Executive Minister of the Church from 1963 to 2009. — With reports from Eva-Marie Krause
