The ecclesiastical districts of Central Valley and San Diego County, both in California, USA, held humanitarian activities on May 9, 2026. The activities were part of the commemoration of the 140th birth anniversary of Brother Felix Y. Manalo, whom Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) firmly believe as God’s Messenger in these last days.

Blood donation
“A massive influx of blood donations, including from various organizations, is deeply rewarding and makes a lasting impact across the entire Central Valley,” observed staff member Glenn Shilow who was also among the organizers. “This collaborative event successfully meets urgent hospital needs while powerfully raising long-term awareness about the importance of giving blood.”

The Central Valley, California District conducted a blood donation drive at Central California Blood Center along Herndon Ave., Fresno, CA.

District supervising minister, Brother Isaias D. Antinew, delivered the opening remarks. The Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation hosted the activity led by its representative from the US Main office, Brother Arturo Bairan.

A total of 175 brethren passed the health screening and donated blood. In addition, the Church also donated US $3,000 through the FYM Foundation to the blood center.

Abby Minong, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for the blood center, said a speech thanking the brethren for donating blood. She said in an interview: “The need for blood is constant. We just want to encourage everybody, always come in, to donate blood, whether it’s whole blood or it’s platelets or it’s plasma. There’s just a big need for patients in the hospital, people who are going with trauma or cancer. … even little babies, sometimes, need blood as well.”

Care for Humanity
Meanwhile, the Ecclesiastical District of San Diego County conducted Care for Humanity events in six venues across the district: Greenbrier Mobile Home Park, Hemet Congregation function hall, Poinsettia Family Mobile Home Park, Skyline Hills Branch Library, Temecula Valley Congregation function hall, and Willow Elementary School.

The FYM Foundation partnered with local health agencies in conducting free medical check-up, giving of care packages, and donating of blood. Brother Matthew T. Capistrano, district supervising minister, led the socio-civic activity.

“With the current situation of the world today, these activities are a very crucial help to the community,” attested beneficiary by the name Rosalinda Cruz-Ramirez. “I’m thankful to the Iglesia Ni Cristo for extending these services.”

A total of 123 brethren volunteers donated blood; 124 individuals availed pre-loved clothes and toys for children while 107 had free medical check-up. — With assistance from Christian Benedict Co and Melissa Benedicto
