On December 5, 2020, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) handed out relief packages to members of St. Francis of Assisi Mission Church in Baras, Rizal, Philippines; a part of the Antiochian Orthodox Church. The members of this archdiocese were affected by the recent typhoons, not to mention the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Spearheaded by the district supervising minister, Brother Arnel Agorilla, Church members from the Local Congregation of Pinugay, Ecclesiastical District of Rizal East turned over 3,000 bags of relief goods. These were given right away to the members of the said church. Health and safety protocols were followed during the outreach activity.
In response to the request of Mr. Yitzhak Pascual Monzanto, their Vicar General and archpriest, the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, approved this Lingap sa Mamamayan (Aid to Humanity) event.
Mr. Monzanto said to the Executive Minister, “We’re happy that he opened his arms to us.” On behalf of their archdiocese, he added, “I would like to express our deep gratitude for this unexpected assistance ... show[ing] love for our fellowmen, not because of religion but of intention to help one another.”
His vicar forane, Mr. Zurin Jerry Juanito Ellaga, said, “The aid you have given us are truly significant for us. This community will never forget this, especially our church. Not only were you quick in responding but you did not hesitate in doing so.”
Jessica Polvorosa, one of the beneficiaries, said, “We are thankful to your group for sharing with us your blessings.”
Milwida Orosco Mosende, yet another beneficiary, “I am grateful to all members of your Church, especially to the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for his kindness even though we are not of the same faith.” — With reports from INC News Section
