“What you did today is amazing,” said Winnie Everts, community engagement coordinator of the Calgary Food Bank. “These will be great additions to all of the food that goes out in our emergency food hampers. This is going to go a long way in serving Calgarians,” she added.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) through its Felix Y. Manalo Foundation Inc. and the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary, Canada, conducted a Care for Humanity program on October 3, 2026. Aimed at augmenting the food bank’s supplies for individuals and families in Calgary experiencing food insecurity, a total of 506 boxes of non-perishable food items were donated to the Calgary Food Bank.

Brother Jimz Caster Zamora, minister of the gospel, explained what inspires the Church in helping those in need: “We firmly believe that this is in obedience to the commandment of our Lord God written in the Holy Scriptures, that His chosen ones must help those people who are in need. It is also stated there that whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it.”

Everts also pointed out how the socio-civic activity was apt and timely, saying that  “The cost of living in Calgary is so high. Car leases that you have, your mortgage or your rent, children going back to school can be very, very expensive. Unexpected costs. For individuals who are working, maybe one job, two jobs, the hourly wage might not be enough.” — With reports from Odellia Carr
