Thousands of residents in Lingayen and neighboring towns in the Philippine province of Pangasinan were affected by floods and heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, during the second week of August.  

The following week, August 17-23, 2026, the Ecclesiastical District of Lingayen, Pangasinan reached out to them via the Church’s Care for Humanity program. A total of more than 3,000 benefited.

Closely monitoring the humanitarian mission’s daily operation, district supervising minister, Brother Franklin G. Villamar, led the giving of relief packages to beneficiaries.

“The severe rains these past weeks affected thousands of residents, including brethren,” he said in an interview. “There were areas where flooding was severe. By the initiative of the Church Administration, residents received immediate help through the Care for Humanity events held in the district.”

During the weeklong distribution of relief packages, a portion of the beneficiaries gathered in designated local congregations’ compounds, notably that of the Dagupan City and Lingayen congregations. The majority, however, had their relief packages delivered directly to their homes.

Aside from the relief packages given, members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) were also in standby should residents affected by flood be in need of rescuing or evacuation.
