The Ecclesiastical District of Cebu City, Cebu, in the Philippines, recently held a photo essay competition for local congregation chroniclers.
Their entries were mounted for exhibit at the Cebu City Congregation’s basement. The ribbon cutting ceremony held on June 14, 2026 for viewing was led by Brother Jomar B. Dueñas, the district supervising minister, and Brother Ramil M. Tolentino II, assistant district supervising minister.
Prior to this, Brother Jenard U. Armas, district chronicler, delivered the opening remarks following a prayer led by Brother Jaime M. Ong, Cebu City Congregation’s resident minister.
“The local chroniclers’ eager participation in this activity helped hone their photography and writing skills which are vital in the performance of their duty,” explained Brother Armas. “This photo essay competition deepened their understanding of the value of their responsibility since they are the primary helpers of the Church Administration in recording their congregation’s history.”
Zyra V. Hayag, chronicler aide from the Alaska Congregation, was recognized for having the best entry. “From the bottom of my heart, I’m truly grateful to God for using the Church Administration as an effective instrument in guiding and inspiring us perform our duties,” she expressed. “I promise to remain loyal, active, and obedient to God as I remain entrusted with this divine calling.”
Everyone who joined the competition was given a certificate of participation.
Toward the event’s closing, Brother Dueñas delivered an inspirational message to the participants. “Thanks to your effort, future generations can look back to the activities and achievements God bestows on us today,” he expressed.
Brother Tolentino led the closing prayer.
