JACKSONVILLE, North Carolina, USA – The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) has officially acquired the property of Bear Creek Community Church, a non-denominational congregation located at 708 Bear Creek Rd, Hubert, NC 28539, in Onslow County.

Purchased for nearly a quarter of a million dollars, the 1950s structure has a main sanctuary that seats approximately 100 congregants, additional office rooms, and a spacious parking area. The property spans roughly 2,580 square feet.

The documents were closed and signed on August 26, 2025, facilitated by Hoffman Law Office of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Representing the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) was Brother Esteban Inocencio Jr., Supervising Minister of the Ecclesiastical District of Virginia. Brother Inocencio emphasized the significance of the acquisition, “Because of our growth, the rapid growth of the Church, we are looking for houses of worship in different cities, in different places.”

The new location is a significant milestone for the Jacksonville congregation, which was established 15 years ago. Church members used to travel long distances to attend worship services, most recently held on Gum Branch Road. The new chapel is just minutes from Marines Corps Base Camp Lejeune, making it more accessible to members, including active-duty and retired military personnel. “It’s a blessing,” shared local members. “Less time on the road means more time for participating in Church activities.”

Brother Gary Beard, a pioneer member of the Jacksonville Congregation, reflected on the journey. “We knew that in God’s time, we would have our own chapel … [It is with] overwhelming joy to know that we have this place that we will always have to worship God in, to always do our duties; but most of all, we’ll be able to have our faith edified.”

Renovations will begin soon to tailor the building to the worship needs of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ). This acquisition is part of the Church’s ongoing efforts to expand and serve its growing membership.
