In the Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand South, brethren gathered for the inaugural worship service of the Wanaka Group Worship Service (GWS) on August 22, 2026.

Brother Uziel B. Bongares, district supervising minister, officiated at the sacred gathering which was held at the Wānaka Community Hub at 34 McDougall Street.

In his preaching of God’s words, Brother Bongares exhorted the congregants to remain faithful and obedient to God’s commands amid worldly challenges, without complaining or disputing, as they work out their salvation with Judgment Day drawing near.

Afterwards, the district minister administered the oath-taking of four newly appointed Church officers who would assist the GWS’ leadership and, thereby, the Church Administration in watching over the members’ spiritual welfare.

In an interview, Brother Bongares remarked, “This GWS is not simply a place of worship but a place where faith is strengthened, families are nurtured, and love of brotherhood is deepened.”

The venue where the occasion was held will serve as the place of worship for the brethren, who were part of the Local Congregation of Queenstown.

Prior to the establishment of the GWS, brethren traveled 70 kilometers to attend worship services and fulfill their Church duties.

Newly sworn finance officer, Leonardo Bernido, expressed, “Having this group worship service means a lot, especially now that members no longer need to travel for hours to attend worship services to glorify the Lord God.”

“Looking back to when I traveled far to reach the places of worship in Queenstown and Invercargill, seeing the Church open worship services in the next town is a manifestation of God’s faithful promises,” shared Alicia Bachiller, head secretary from Queenstown Congregation.

“The establishment of this GWS serves as a beautiful reminder for brethren to remain faithful, united, and willing to work together,” enthused Minky Agapito, a newly sworn finance officer. “I give all the glory and thanks to God for His guidance and blessings that made this historic moment possible.”
