With their rendition of the Iglesia Ni Cristo original song “Maghintay sa Biyayang Darating (Wait for the Grace to Come)”, the choir representing Vigan area emerged as the champion during the ‘Songs of Salvation: Acapella Edition’ district finals of the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines, on August 25, 2024.

The district’s five areas, namely, Magsaysay, Narvacan, San Esteban, San Juan and Vigan had choirs representing them, which thus competed and showcased their singing prowess with INC Original Music.

Navarcan area’s choir sang “Ipagdiwang ang kaniyang kaningningan” (Celebrate the Church’s glory), while that of San Juan, the song titled“Kakampi natin ang Diyos, Siya ang Mandirigmang Makapangyarihan” (God is on our side, He is the Almighty Warrior). They were declared first and second runners-up, respectively. All winners and other participants—from the areas of Magsaysay and San Esteban—received plaques and certificates of recognition.

Erman De Peralta of the Bantay Congregation, Windell Inong of the Sinait Congregation, and Jessie Arquines of the San Pablo Congregation, who are all choir directors, served as the judges. Originality, musicality, voice quality, and stage presentation were their criteria for judging.

“We’re very pleased that all our efforts, from practice to performance, have paid off. We also extend our gratitude to our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo Manalo, and Brother Angelo Eraño Manalo, the CFO Coordinator, for approving this inspiring activity that not only strengthens our faith but also provides us with the opportunity to showcase our singing talents,” said conductor Daniel Divina on behalf of the winning choir.

“Through the brethren’s exceptional performances, which bespeak of God’s goodness upon His Church, today’s activity indeed has been an avenue to please the Lord God,” enthused Brother Kevin Casubha, assistant district supervising minister.

Brother Esteban Cervantes Jr., the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, led the CFO officers in organizing this event that was held at San Vicente Gymnasium, Ilocos Sur. The district is currently led by the supervising minister, Brother Marco Luisito Tamayo. — With reports from Edlyn Antolin of INC News Section
