Part of its commitment to help others and sustain lives, the Ecclesiastical District of Marikina in the Philippines hosted blood donation activities in three local congregations. The FYM Avenue Congregation conducted theirs on May 30, 2026 at Green Acres Covered Court; the F. Manalo-Marikina Congregation on June 6 at Camacho Covered Court; and the Sampaguita Village Congregation on June 20 at a covered court of its namesake.
The district Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers spearheaded the socio-civic activities in the aforementioned congregations, in partnership with Rizal Medical Center.
Days before the actual blood donation activities, each congregation were visited by representatives of the Church’s Social Services Office. They taught the brethren necessary preparations to take before donating blood, what they ought to do after, and the benefits it entails to rightful recipients and to the donor’s health.
On the day of the blood donation, aspiring donors, both members and nonmembers alike, underwent screening by CMDPS officers to ensure eligibility. Once qualified, medical practitioners from the partner hospital proceeded with the blood extraction.
“Whenever the Church holds blood donation activities, I make sure to see if I qualify to donate blood,” shared Renato Maga-an, a deacon and officer of Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN). “I am happy when I am able to do so and I feel healthy,” he added.
Brother Renante P. Flores, Sampaguita Village Congregation resident minister, expressed on behalf of the brethren, saying, “We are grateful to the Church Administration for they allowed us to have this activity wherein we can obey God’s command to save lives and help those in need. We are one with them in all of the Church’s works for the Almighty’s glory.” — With assistance from Marikina District Multimedia
