Posted: June 14, 2025

DINAPIGUE, Isabela — Hundreds of volunteers joined a tree planting activity on June 6, 2025 in Dinapigue town in Isabela that resulted in the planting of about 2,000 young trees.

Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members from Dinapigue and neighboring areas participated in the activity alongside local residents in Barangay Digumased where the event was held, according to the INC District Minister in Aurora, Brother Reynaldo Flores. Some of the participants came all the way from Baler, Aurora which is about 230 kilometers away. They had to travel from five to six hours to get to Dinapigue, Isabela.

Mariolito Ortiz, Head Officer of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Dinapigue, expressed his appreciation for the successful tree planting activity spearheaded by the INC, particularly since it resulted in the planting of around 2,000 young trees in the area.

“Approximately 2,000 seedlings—including bamboo, fruit-bearing, and forest trees—were planted this time, compared to the usual 500 seedlings in other events,” he noted.

Ortiz also expressed gratitude for the combined effort of all those who took part in the event, including those from the local government unit. “Tree planting is essential to restore our degraded forests. We are thankful for the collective commitment shown in Dinapigue,” he said.

To support the activity, the local government unit also provided a medical team from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the event.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a community partner that helps. It has active members and congregations in more than 160 countries and territories.
