Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Capital City and Gatineau Group Worship Service in the Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa in Canada donated to the John Howard Society of Ottawa in aid of its beneficiaries.
The INC Giving activity took place on October 30, 2021 at 322 Gardner St., Vanier, Ottawa, Ontario.
A non-profit organization, the John Howard Society provides “supportive housing” program for people who have “experienced long-term homelessness,” said Alicia Beaudoin, the Society’s manager.
The district supervising minister, Brother Jose P. Razon II, led the brethren in handing out care packages that contained food, hygiene products, and face masks, among other basic necessities.
On behalf of the society, Beaudoin gratefully said, “It’s a generosity of the spirit, that people are willing to sacrifice a day when they can travel and help out in the communities. It’s really amazing.”
Ottawa City Mayor Jim Watson graced the event with his presence. He said, “Thank you for the generosity of your time … for volunteering, for contributing financially. We live in a very beautiful, caring city, and this is another example of how caring our community is.”
To the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, who would be celebrating his birthday the next day, the mayor added, “I wish you the very best on your birthday. Thank you for inspiring so many people here in Ottawa to give back to their community.” — With reports from INC News Section
