Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Midwest conducted an Aid to Humanity event for the benefit of the residents of the Lake Oaks Senior Apartments on June 25, 2022.

Led by Brother Erman Bendicio, district supervising minister, the district leadership and brethren-volunteers drove an hour-and-a-half from the district office along N. Mason Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, to the venue, a community for people aged 55 or older, situated at Wisconsin Ave., Racine, Wisconsin, USA. There, they handed over care packages and provided basic medical services for the beneficiaries.

Monique Monroe from Switzerland, who has been around the community for 15 years, happily said, “I’m very impressed, everybody’s so happy. Help is needed everywhere and that’s what we’re supposed to do, share, and you’re showing it very well, wonderfully.”

Part of the outreach activity was the sharing of the Good News of salvation. Brother Bendicio taught a Bible-based lesson about the great importance of being counted among God’s chosen people in these last days—the Church Of Christ—and sacred reason why its members intensively spread the good news of His salvation to all and sundry.

“Listening to the minister, I was writing down the Scriptures [Bible verses] so I can read them over myself,” said Beatrice Nolan, a guest. “It seems a well-equipped Church, faithful and kind people. There’s no negativity at all. I enjoyed that.” — With reports from INC News Section

In commemoration of the 12th anniversary of dynamic leadership of the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Midwest conducted an Aid to Humanity in Rapid City, South Dakota on September 7, 2021.

The event, led by the district supervising minister, Brother Erman Bendicio, began with a trip to the fire and police departments. They went there to express the Church Of Christ’s members appreciation for their service to the community.

“It just encourages them [firefighters] when they get recognition like this and it’s such a great thing. And the gift is very generous to give out to these members so yeah. It’s been a good day so far,” said Calen Maningas, captain of the Rapid City Fire Department.

Having felt the impact of the pandemic “and some of the things that have happened in law enforcement on a nationwide scale over the last two years, have made the job a lot a lot more demanding, a lot more challenging,” Brendyn Medina of the Rapid City Police Department, said. Grateful for the event, he added, “It goes a long way to help keep our officers stay grounded and remind them that there are good people out there in the world that appreciate what we do.”

After the frontliner appreciation, the brethren then gathered at the Dahl Arts Center to provide free bags of groceries and free meals to those who are in need. One of the beneficiaries, James Hunter, said, “A lot of food I could use. I have nowhere else to go. The food is good.”

Ferdinand De Dios, minister of the gospel, said, “As the world continues to adapt to the challenges that are brought upon the pandemic, with activities like this, we are able to find ways to do good for those who are in need. Through the leadership of our Executive Minister and the guidance of our Almighty God, we are able to reach this part of the world to provide aid.” — With reports from INC News Section

Northern Midwest KADIWA explore career opportunities

To help students decide what career path to take, especially in the light of the pandemic’s impact on people’s way of life, KADIWA members from the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Midwest participated in a Career Q&A activity conducted through videoconferencing on June 13, 2021.

Led by district KADIWA officers, the Church members learned about the various fields open to individuals, from the medical field to engineering to media and the arts.

Sister Jessica Geis, event coordinator from the Local Congregation of St. Paul, Minnesota, said, “A lot of the KADIWA members might not be sure what career field they would like to be in, or [they] may be in a career field right now, but they might not like what their job is, so this [activity] was to help them see different career paths that they might want to go into.”

The question-and-answer session was the highlight of the activity. The brethren were grouped into different breakout rooms based on their interest such as medical, education, finance and accounting, engineering, media and the arts, and science and technology. Each breakout room had guest speakers who presented their respective fields.

Mikee Miranda, guest speaker from the Local Congregation of Chicago, Illinois, said, “The brethren are interested. After our presentation, they have some follow-up questions which [we] were able to answer so it was a very great experience.”

Another guest speaker from the same congregation, Mary Damian, said, “It’s really hard to get started into the field or career of your choice. I also realized that there’s a lot of brethren, especially the younger brethren, who do need help choosing their career paths or has questions on how to like ‘get their foot in the door’.”

The most-heard advice from the guest speakers especially when they encounter challenges, was to trust in God, for He will not allow them to be in a situation they cannot handle.

One of the organizers, Brother Cameron Waterman, ministerial worker, said, “The brethren understood that if you prioritize God, whether it’s school, work, or family, God will never forsake you. God will never leave you alone, and He really does give blessings to those who trust in Him.”

Formerly named “Midwest,” the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Midwest is the Church’s fifth ecclesiastical district that was established outside the Philippines way back in June 1991. It was renamed a decade later to distinguish it from its offspring, the Ecclesiastical District of Southern Midwest. At present, Northern Midwest is consisted of 22 local congregations, two extensions, and 14 Group Worship Services (GWS) throughout the America’s heartland, from North Dakota to Arkansas and Minnesota to Tennessee and West Virginia. Its district office is located at 1500 N Mason Ave., Chicago, Illinois. — With reports from INC News Section
