In commemoration of their district’s 44th anniversary, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Tacloban City, Leyte, in Visayas, Philippines, simultaneously held tree plantation and clean-up drives.
These were done at and for Sitio New Era, Barangay Langit, Alangalang, Leyte on May 9, 2026.
Brother Raul Ramirez, district supervising minister, led the socio-civic activity, which aimed to promote environmental preservation and ecological awareness. Brethren from local congregations in the district gathered in their designated area to plant tree seedlings and conduct clean-up drive.
“I am thankful to our Almighty God because I was able to take part in these meaningful activities commemorating our district anniversary,” said Brother Recie Malbuezo, ministerial worker assigned in the Local Congregation of San Jose. He added, “These activities help in preventing floods, landslides, air pollution, and contribute to the fight against global warming.”
Brother Clyde Nemeño, ministerial worker assigned in the Local Congregation of Tacloban City, said, “Participating in the tree-planting activity brought me joy because I know that in my own simple way, I was able to contribute something beneficial for the community and nature. I will continue supporting all the activities launched by the Church Administration.”
Through the two-fold activity, the brethren further strengthened their bond of brotherhood and their unity with the Church Administration in supporting projects that benefit the community.
