The Ecclesiastical District of San Diego County, California participated through INC Giving the 6th Annual Filipino American Friendship event at the Naval Training Center Park along Cushing Road, San Diego, California, USA, on July 18, 2026.

Brethren from various local congregations participated in the event, which started with a parade.

Brother Matthew T. Capistrano, district supervising minister, led the brethren in their designated booth. In a brief speech, he extended gratitude to event organizers for the invitation and welcomed the attendees to activities of the Church in every local congregation. He also greeted the brethren and the Church Administration in connection with the 112th Anniversary of the Church.

“I’m really thankful for the INC (Iglesia Ni Cristo) for contributing … when we had the [parade], you’re still the largest contingent and I’m proud of that because it’s showing what it looks like when we support each other,” expressed JoAnn Fields, head organizer of the event and Filipino-American community leader.

In the INC Giving booth, the brethren donated 750 kits of school supplies placed in a backpack, which was timely since most schools would be opening in August.

An attendee by the name of Kealoha, from San Diego, observed, “Being able to give away backpacks and school supplies, connecting, and being a part of the community … are commendable.”

“Joining this event enables us to engage with the local community and extend the spirit of INC Giving,” remarked Rowell Correa, a head deacon in the Local Congregation of Chula Vista. “Through simple acts of kindness, we hope to bring positive influence not only to the community but also to the youth.”

Event organizers appreciated the participation of the Church and its help to the community. The district leadership received a certificate of recognition for the Church’s contributions from the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk. It stated in part: “Your commitment to celebrating Filipino heritage, fostering community connections, and promoting cultural understanding enriches our region and helps make San Diego County a great place to live, work, and thrive.” — With assistance from Kalvin Ace Paras
