“We really appreciate what the Church Of Christ has done through this activity. It will cover a lot of patients who are in need of blood,” said Burgos, Ilocos Sur municipal health officer Dr. Edgardo Rante, of the blood donation that was held on January 18, 2025.
Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from various local congregations of the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines, joined the said socio-civic activity at the Innovation Center of the Polytechnic State College Sta. Maria Campus.
Representatives of the Burgos Rural Health Unit and Red Cross facilitated the activity. A total of 84 bags of blood were collected.
Dr. Rante added, “Donating blood routinely is a maintaining factor to our health. It is like changing oil of a car for it to continue running smoothly. Donating blood does that to our bodies.”
The event was made possible with the unified efforts of Society of Communicators and Networkers (SCAN) International, Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), and Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers.
Brethren who flocked to the venue went through preliminary screening, such as blood pressure monitoring, body mass indexing, hemoglobin checking, among others.
“We anticipated this activity which benefits us and the people who are in need,” said district SCAN president Premie Salazar of the Local Congregation of Sta. Maria, who was also among the qualified donors. “It is always fulfilling to allot time and prepare for such Church activities launched by the Church Administration.” — With reports from Edlyn Antolin of INC News Section
