Philippines’ Taal Volcano awakens: International religious organization helps towns affected by volcanic eruption
BATANGAS, Philippines — A day after the Taal Volcano erupted on Sunday, January 12, 2020, volunteers of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) conducted a Lingap sa Mamamayan (Aid To Humanity) activity to help those severely affected by the eruption in two Philippine provinces, Batangas and Cavite.
The INC, through the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation, immediately distributed relief packages in various venues in the said provinces.
In at least one of the venues in Batangas, INC medical volunteers also conducted a medical mission, giving free health check-up, medicines, and vitamins to the affected residents.
Members of the INC’s Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) were also mobilized to help in the evacuation of some of the affected residents, who were forced from their homes, leaving behind their possessions, livestock, and livelihood.
The INC Aid To Humanity helps those who are in need in various communities worldwide, including those in calamity-stricken areas.
In 2019, it helped thousands in Canada, United States, India, and Africa.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) is an international religious organization which has now spread to 156 countries.
