To better provide for the spiritual needs of the brethren in Canada, the Church Administration approved the establishment of the Russell Group Worship Service (GWS), in the Ecclesiastical District of Saskatchewan, Canada. The inaugural worship service was held on April 19, 2026.
Jecybel Guilas, a deaconess, expressed gratitude, “It is a great blessing to finally have a place of worship here in Russell.”
Brethren from various local congregations throughout the district traveled to the George P. Buleziuk Centre, located at 106 Shell River Avenue, Russell, Manitoba, Canada, to witness this significant milestone.
Brethren in Russell, Manitoba used to attend worship services with the Yorkton Congregation, from which they sprang forth as GWS. They would drive approximately an hour, much longer during winter time, to reach the house of worship.
The inaugural worship service commenced with the oath-taking of the newly appointed officers before the devotional prayer of Church officers, both led by Brother Denis Salvante, district edification overseer.
Brother Felman Saren, assistant district supervising minister, led the opening prayer after the hymn-singing led by the choir members. During the homily, Brother Ramil H. Macaspac, district supervising minister, exhorted the congregation on the vital importance of remaining steadfast in their faith and service to give God first place in their lives, regardless of the trials or circumstances they are in or might encounter.
“I’m a witness to the sacrifices of the brethren in traveling just to be able to attend the worship service,” attested Shellven Kayanan, who volunteered part of his home at 219 Pelly Avenue North, Russell, Manitoba, Canada to serve as the GWS’s place of worship. There, succeeding worship services will be held.
