Iglesia Ni Cristo members from the Ecclesiastical District of Manitoba helped plant more trees at Woodsworth Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 19 and 20, 2020. The activity was conducted over two days to accommodate the number of volunteered tree planters while maintaining proper social distancing and other imposed limits on outdoor gatherings to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
The district supervising minister, Brother Sidney Santos, spearheaded the activity. Assisted by several park workers of the City of Winnipeg, the brethren were shown how to prepare the soil and properly plant the trees. In two days, over 250 trees were planted in the park, expecting they would provide a cleaner environment in the years to come.
The park workers who helped assist were appreciative of the brethren for their volunteering efforts in beautifying the community. Kevin Lamoureux, a Member of the Canadian Parliament, was also present in the activity. He acknowledged them and the Church in its entirety for its commitment to protecting the environment. ― With reports from INC News Section
