Lagro Congregation SCAN members sharpen rescue, aid abilities

Members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers (SCAN) International in the Local Congregation of Lagro, Ecclesiastical District of Quezon City attended a symposium on medical evacuation and extrication on May 18, 2025.

“This activity is always worthwhile for the improvement of skills that are necessary in fulfilling our duties. I firmly believe that when we fulfill our duties we are able to all the more please the Lord God,” said Israel Alvarez, a certified safety officer and the local congregation SCAN president.

Alvarez served as the resource speaker. He detailed the basics of providing rescue during calamities, such as flash floods, earthquakes, fires, and the like.

“In our time when calamities abound, people ought to be prepared at all times. As a SCAN member, it is important that I have the set of skills to help the afflicted. I’m thankful for this event help us sharpen our ability to provide aid,” said Ma. Lourdes Maningkil.

Basic first aid was also discussed, including the proper extraction of people who faint or lose consciousness while in a crowd. SCAN members and responders who attended demonstrated one by one.

“We thank the Church Administration for supporting our activity aimed at improving the SCAN members’ performance of their duty. This emphasizes that the Church Administration is also concerned for the well-being of the brethren in dire situations,” said the congregation’s Christian Family Organizations overseer Brother Ed Vivas. — With reports from Mitch Pasamba of INC News Section
