The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) conducted a Care for Humanity program for the flood-stricken residents in Carmen, Davao del Norte, Philippines on February 23, 2023. More than 1,500 residents were given aid through the humanitarian activity, which was led by Brother Israel U. Flores, district supervising minister of Ecclesiastical District of Davao del Norte.
The program was conducted to give immediate assistance to the residents in some of the hardest hit areas in Carmen. Heavy rainfall that continued for several days caused massive flooding that submerged entire villages.
Ministers, Church officers, and volunteer brethren united in distributing care packages at the vicinity of the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Carmen, while other “care packages were handed over to the local government unit in Carmen,” said Brother Frederick Falame, the assistant district supervising minister. Both Church Of Christ members and nonmembers benefited from the activity.
“This is the first time we experienced a widespread flood in our area,” shared Jerry Ranga, a deacon in Carmen. “I was able to bring with me just a few dresses to put on for worship services, nothing else. May God keep our family safe,” said another evacuee, Annabelle Sibayan.
A government official, Zenaida Ramos, expressed her gratitude for the immediate response she witnessed: “Thank you, Church Of Christ, for the kind support.” —With reports from INC News Section
