As in other provinces battered by super typhoon Rai (local name: Odette) in early December last year, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) has continued to hold outreach activities in Palawan, Philippines to send aid to the affected citizens.
The Ecclesiastical District of Palawan North held Aid to Humanity events on January 22 and February 9, 2022 in the compounds of various local congregations under its supervision.
On the first date, hundreds of relief packages were transported to each of the hardest-hit local congregations, namely, Abongan, Binduyan, Cawacayan, Desay Extension, Jolo Roxas, Latungay Ext, Lucbuan, Macarascas, Magara, Maoyon, New Canipo, Pagdanan, Panindigan, Port Barton, Roxas, Sabang Ext, Sader, Salvacion, Sandoval, TDC, and Sta. Teresita Group Worship Service (GWS).
Five thousand more relief packages were distributed on February 9, from the major sites—the houses of worship of the local congregations of Binduyan, Magara, Roxas, and Abongan—to its neighboring congregations.
Financial assistance was also extended to the victims of the calamity, primarily those whose houses were severely damaged.
“This is the third of a series of Aid to Humanity events conducted here in our district,” said Brother Jovelito Manuba, assistant district supervising minister. The first one took place just days after Odette ravaged the island.
Rafael Bermudo, from the Local Congregation of Macarascas, said, “Praises be to God for He kept us safe when the storm hit here. And the relief packages keep reaching us, for which we likewise thank Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, our Executive Minister.”
On behalf of the district, Brother Bright Ballesteros, the district supervising minsiter, said, “We thank so much our Executive Minister for sending additional aid.” — With reports from INC News Section
