CAMARINES SUR, Philippines — Following the widespread destruction caused by Typhoon Kristine that unleashed massive flood waters in Naga City, residents face the challenge of managing debris and waste left in its aftermath. In response, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ) quickly organized and led a clean-up drive as part of its ongoing INC Giving initiative dedicated to providing help to those in need including during times of crisis.

On November 8, 2024, hundreds of INC members from the Ecclesiastical District of Naga City, Camarines Sur, worked together to clear streets, remove debris, and restore public spaces (like in Barangay Liñaga, along Isarog St., Taal Ave., and Mayon Ave.) that were heavily affected by waste and flood residues. The clean-up efforts began at 6:00 a.m., led by the District Supervising Minister, Brother Misael Dungca Jr.

The INC Giving project is one of the Church’s major outreach programs focusing on providing humanitarian aid and community support, particularly during disasters. Through this initiative, the Iglesia Ni Cristo demonstrates its unwavering commitment to serving others and helping communities in need.

After the clean-up activity, INC representatives turned over thousands of care packages for typhoon victims. This was in response to the request of Naga City Mayor and Metro Naga Development Council Chairperson, Nelson Legacion who expressed his gratitude to the INC effort.

“...Taos pusong pasasalamat sa pamunuan at mga kaanib ng Iglesia Ni Cristo sa pagtugon sa ating panawagan ng tulong [A heartfelt thank you to the leadership and members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo for responding to our call for help],” Legacion said in his Facebook post.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) is a Christian religion in more than 165 countries and territories. It is composed of members from more than 150 different ethnicities and nationalities.
