Officers of the Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) in the Ecclesiastical Districts of Makati and Marikina, Philippines, hosted a Fun & Friendship Day for brethren, mostly children, with disabilities.

Makati

Makati District held the said activity at an indoor playground at the MET Live mall, Pasay City, on September 21, 2025. District supervising minister Brother Dominador Tapang Jr. delivered the opening remarks, which was followed by a song performance by Guiafleur Gabuay with Sign Language interpretation by CSD officers. Then, parents and children alike enjoyed participating in the games, such as Tunnel and Target Course and Ring Toss Challenge.

“CSD activities like this … helped me improve my skills in proper interaction and communication with the brethren with disabilities,” explained CSD district vice president Regene Dorothy Lagusay.

“Seeing my son Marko happy for being able to play and interact with other kids made me very happy, too. This activity is indeed beneficial for both parents and children,” said district multimedia officer Ignicris Alera.

“It’s very heartwarming to be with young brethren and their parents. Seeing their smiles and positive reaction to the activity make us even more happy,” said CSD district president Jennifer Lorriane Sarmiento.

Marikina

For Marikina District, the said activity was held on September 28, 2025 at Garden Mirror Events Place, 76 Mayor Gil Fernando Avenue, Marikina City.

District supervising minister Brother Cyrus Jose Dizon graced the activity. After his opening remarks, the CSD officers introduced the games, such as Ring Toss and Guess the Song Title, which the children so enjoyed.

“My daughter Arabella anticipated this activity. She’s all smiles during the games,” shared Arlene Guevarra from Marikina Centro Congregation. “I’m happy because the Church Administration launch activities like this for our children with disabilities.”

“Promoting awareness, this activity taught brethren and Church officers how to handle children with disabilities,” said Elmer Lajeras from Parang Congregation. It’s fun having conversation with other parents, and sharing with them my experiences in taking care of my son.” — With reports from Jennifer Lorriane Sarmiento and Claidenn Villar
