Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Cagayan West participated in a blood donation drive that was held at the gymnasium of Barangay Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan, Philippines on November 5, 2024.

The district leadership collaborated with the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC) and Provincial Health Office of Apayao for this socio-civic activity. The latter’s medical personnel facilitated the collection of blood after the volunteer donors underwent screening to determine if they were fit to donate blood.

A total of 18,000 cc of blood or 72 blood bags collected, which were then donated to the FNLGHTC patients.

“There were instances when brethren ask for blood needed for their medical procedures,” shared district supervising minister Brother Rodel Barrera, adding “this activity will thus help them, including our nonmember fellowmen. That is why despite the inclement weather, the brethren were unhindered in uniting in this endeavor for they know fully well that donating blood is important.”

Ministers and ministerial workers in the district took the lead in donating blood. Many of them qualified in doing so, such as Brother Lee-am Patrick Tacasa, a ministerial worker assigned in the Sanchez Mira Congregation. “I’m joyful for this opportunity being of help to my fellowmen with their medical needs, and this is pleasing before the Lord God,” he said. — With reports from Sonny Jake Canoasi
