In unity with their fellow brethren and health workers all over the world, members of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society in the Ecclesiastical District of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur spearheaded a district-wide blood donation drive to commemorate the CMDPS’ fourth anniversary.
They conducted the charitable activity on February 25, 2023 at the Bislig City Cultural and Sports Center in collaboration with the Bislig City health office, which was also the recipient of the blood donations for its own humanitarian use.
Brother Wilfred Sacayanan, district supervising minister, together with ministers from the district, led not only in promoting this humanitarian endeavor but in volunteering as blood donors.
A total of 200 bags of blood were collected, “an unusual feat” as commented by the city’s health officers.
“Usually, we in the city health office only have few attendees when we conduct blood donation activities. But today, I’m surprised because there’s so many volunteers,” attested Dr. Rikka Vanya De Guzman, one of the city health officers who helped facilitate the activity. “Bearing in mind that there are many people in need of blood transfusion, and our hospitals at times run low in blood supply, this recent donation is truly of great help.”
She added, “Donating blood is helpful to both sides, that is, the recipients and the donors. The latter’s blood, particularly their red blood cells, is being replenished.”
On behalf of their organization, Richelle Feliscuzo, Bislig City CMDPS President and a registered nurse, said, “We will continue spreading generosity and concern to our fellowmen.” — With reports from INC News Section.
