Dedicated as Senior Citizen Appreciation Day, September 21, 2025 saw the Ecclesiastical District of Batac City, Ilocos Norte, in the Philippines pay tribute to senior members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) under its care through a special gathering followed by CFO Cares event.

Special gathering

The special gathering of the elderly brethren took place at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Batac. It was officiated at by the district supervising minister Brother Allan Ladera.

Brother Ladera preached from the Bible how true servants of God keep their faith in Him shining bright by not faltering in their worship of Him. He acknowledged this was what the attendees have shown all their lives, serving as role models to the younger members in ardently serving God no matter what happens that they may receive salvation.

“I thank God wholeheartedly for taking good care of the brethren, especially us, seniors, as we’re afflicted with many and various debilitating illnesses,” said 64-year-old head deacon June Pagdilao from the Pinili Congregation.

CFO Cares

Right after the special gathering, the senior brethren were shuttled to the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City for the CFO Cares. CFO stands for the Christian Family Organizations within the Church.

In the said event, the elderly received free medicines and health services, such as medical consultation and body checkup. There were also free massage, haircut, and nail care.

The 535 senior members were also treated to musical renditions of INC original songs, such as “Awit ng Anak (Children’s Song to Parents)” and “Dalangin sa Ama (Prayer to God).”

“We thank God, and the Church Administration who approved these activities,” said district CFO overseer Brother Verneir Cupay. On behalf of the officers, he added, “We will always look after the welfare of our brethren, from parents to children, our seniors included, with the noble aim of leading them towards spiritual maturity to ensure salvation.”—With assistance from Jake Torio
