On November 1, 2024, the Ecclesiastical District of Leyte in the Philippines held a series of events for members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN), that enabled them to hone their skills and further edified them in the faith.

Special gathering

The special gathering was held at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Naval and officiated by Brother Roy Miguel, the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer.

During the study of God’s words, Brother Miguel encouraged the attendees to continue actively fulfilling their God-given duties, such as being submissive to and united with the Church Administration. He emphasized that by doing so, the SCAN officers not only demonstrate concern for their fellowmen but most especially give glory to God.

Grand eyeball

After the holy gathering, the SCAN members went to the Marienor Mountain Resort Function Hall in Naval, Biliran, approximately 10 kilometers from the said house of worship, for their grand eyeball.

In his opening remarks, Marvin Gelig, the SCAN vice president of the Naval Congregation, expressed his gratitude to all SCAN members and their families for their participation in the event.

Afterwards, seminars on Amateur Radio Orientation and basics of fire fighting were held. District SCAN president Dante Añasco taught the attendees about amateur or ham radio, operating protocols, etiquette, call signs, phonetics, radio licensing, regulations, among others as well as how to extinguish fires using various types of fire extinguishers.

A slideshow presentation was then shown, highlighting the various activities organized by SCAN throughout the year. This was followed by an intermission number, featuring select SCAN members performing the Iglesia Ni Cristo original musicDalangin sa Ama” (Prayer to the Father). The brethren shared the prepared meals afterwards.

“I thank the Church Administration for launching an activity such as this that helped me gain added knowledge and strengthened me in the faith,” expressed Benjamin Ramo from the Local Congregation of Biliran.

“On behalf of all SCAN members in the district, we will remain united with the Church Administration. We will continue extending our hands to our fellowmen in times of need. We will do this not only to show kindness to others but, more importantly, for the glory of God,” said Añasco. — With reports from Gabby Macato
