With its heartfelt and moving rendition of the INC original songs Malapit na! Malapit na! and Isang Tinig, Isang Himig, the Area 1 of the Ecclesiastical District of San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, was declared champion of the district’s Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation) finals.

Area 1, consisted of adjacent local congregations in San Carlos City, competed with five other areas of the district that each fielded an a cappella group of more than 50 choristers.

The district officers of the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) organized the event held at the Balon Bayambang Events Center, Pangasinan on October 18, 2026. It was aimed at promoting INC original music while discovering new singing talents, and edifying the faith of the brethren, performers and audience alike.

Brother Joseph S. Amarille, district supervising minister, delivered the opening remarks, after the opening prayer led by Brother Phil Campos, assistant district supervising minister. Brother Amarille thanked all brethren in attendance and encouraged them to remain active in the faith inside the Church Of Christ.

“I’m incredibly happy to have witnessed this activity launched by the Church Administration,” said Gigi Caldona, a Buklod member from the Malasiqui Congregation. “Events like this … deeply strengthen and solidify my conviction.”

“My heart is overflowing with joy for the opportunity to perform songs,” shared Karen Kaye Mabanta, a choir member from the Sta. Barbara Congregation. “These sacred hymns truly fortify my faith. Our preparations as a choral group were far from easy at the start, as we dedicated countless hours and sacrifices just to perfect our harmony and deliver our pieces.”

Awarding of winners was held right after Brother Mark Rolan Duque, the district CFO overseer, led the closing prayer. Aside from being declared as the champion, Area 1 garnered special awards, namely, Best in Costume, Best in A Capella, and Best in Interpretation of Contest Piece. Area 6 (Mangatarem) placed 1st runner up, Area 4 (Bayambang) second.
