“The KADIWA Café and Race gives our KADIWA members a breath of fresh air from the busyness of school, work, and other commitments. It is also an opportunity to strengthen their bonds and make new connections with their fellow KADIWA members in our district,” said Brother Lorenz Salomon, district Christian Family Organizations overseer.

The activity, organized by the Ecclesiastical District of Western Australia for KADIWA members, was held at the Aveley Community Centre on September 13, 2026.

The activity was consisted of two parts. KADIWA Café, is for “those who may just want to relax in a café-style environment, interact with their friends, meet new people as well. So those two environments complement each other in our activity today,” explained Francis Anne Francisco, district KADIWA president.

In it, the brethren bonded over food and interactive games, such as puzzles, building blocks, painting, and board games.

Meanwhile, for the race, six teams composed of KADIWA members from congregations across the district competed. The participants went through eight challenge stations that tested their coordination, agility, communication, and teamwork. The stations were Ping Pong Pipeline, Multi-drawer Madness, Tower Toss, Team Sound Charades, 5 Move Coin Puzzle, Riddle Rush, Colour by Numbers, and Straw Ball Race.

Side Quest challenges were prepared for KADIWA members who did not make it to the teams. Simple challenges were conducted, with small groups of brethren receiving rewards after completing each one. It enabled them to contribute in various capacities, as race participants, station volunteers, supporters, café volunteers, or visitors.

“I really like spending time with my fellow KADIWA, and I really like the food and activities. Working with my teammates from other local congregations strengthens my unity with the brotherhood,” enthused Clifford Mangyan from Ellenbrook Congregation.

At the awarding ceremony, Midland, Ellenbrook, and Coogee congregations all placed first, while Stirling and Armadale congregations on the second place, and Maddington Congregation on the third place.

The KADIWA Café and Race concluded with closing remarks from Brother Salomon and a prayer led by Brother Olan Gaviola, the district secretary.—With assistance from Hannah Sharlene Leocio
