Church officers from the local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Maguindanao, in the Philippines, benefited from a seminar on basic life support, which was held at a covered court in Barangay Nangi, Upi, Maguindanao del Norte, on July 19, 2026.
The seminar was facilitated by the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) and the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS).
Resource speaker Dr. Jazzmine Dizor Aguirre, district CMDPS officer, discussed proper methods of applying first-aid treatment to injuries such as burns, wounds, and fractures, as well as attending to those experiencing nausea, cramps, and seizures. She also taught the proper administering of cardiopulmonary resuscitation to infants and adults.
“It is vital that every one knows what to do when there are emergency medical situations. During such eventualities, every second counts,” explained Dr. Emily Calvo-Dizor, district CMDPS officer.
Rommel Magbanua, SCAN member from Upi Congregation, shared, “It is important that we understand how to respond to certain medical emergencies. If we know what to do in every situation, then we are able to fulfill the motto of the SCAN—Saving lives is our priority.” — With reports from Israel Villacarlos
