On the eve of the 112th anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), brethren in the Ecclesiastical District of Edmonton, Canada gathered to witness the lighting of Edmonton’s High Level Bridge in tribute to the said occasion.

“We are truly grateful for the lighting of this iconic local landmark with the colors of the Church Of Christ,” expressed Brother Romel M. Cruz, district multimedia adviser. “For us, this shows that the country appreciates the Church’s presence here and its contributions to the community,” he added.

Spanning the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, this historic steel truss bridge was built between 1910 and 1913. It opened as a bilevel bridge on the latter date, then carrying intercity railway, streetcars, and roadway traffic. At present, it is a two-lane, southbound-only roadway.

“As members around the world celebrate the 112th anniversary of the Church, brethren here in Edmonton are as eagerly motivated to take part in this endeavor,” stated Brother Rolando E. Gaviola, the district supervising minister.

Aside from capturing the moment with fellow Church members and their household, brethren bonded over small get-together activities.

Brother Gaviola enthused, “This public tribute that highlighted the Church’s 112 years of steadfast service to God further inspires brethren to remain united in the faith.”

Moreover, several Canadian officials including Prime Minister Mark Carney, Members of Parliament Salma Zahid and Roman Baber, Member of Provincial Parliament Michael Kerzner, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, sent their greetings for the Church’s 112th anniversary through official letters and commemorative certificates, among others.
