San Diego, California – Fiesta Island along Mission Bay in San Diego, California became the venue of a clean-up drive by volunteers from the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) on Saturday, April 18, 2026, who were able to collect more than 300 pounds of trash from the public beach.
Over 280 volunteers from around the Ecclesiastical District of San Diego County, which stretches as far south as Chula Vista and as far north as Hemet, joined the activity to demonstrate their shared commitment to care for the environment. This event demonstrated the Church’s commitment to community service and ecological care. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to help keep our community clean. Through this, we show our unity and our commitment to doing what is pleasing to God,” stated Brother Matthew Capistrano, District Supervising Minister of the District of San Diego. The beach cleanup was one of a series of events to commemorate the District’s 10th anniversary this year.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) is a Christian religion in more than 160 countries and territories and is a community partner that helps.
