On March 10, 2021, the local congregations of Veterans Village 1 and Pasong Tamo, Ecclesiastical District of Central simultaneously held a blood donation drive at Faustino Covered Court and Pingkian Village III Covered Court, respectively.
Led by the resident ministers and ministerial workers, together with the Church officers, of their respective congregations, the brethren underwent the whole process from health screenings to the actual donating of blood, all the while following health and safety protocols.
The Veterans Village 1 Congregation collaborated with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) while the Pasong Tamo Congregation with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
The brethren said that they participated in these socio-civic activities to obey one of God’s commandments, that is, to care for by extending help to their fellowmen who are in need.
Having had his seventh time being a qualified donor, Reynaldo Lanoza, a head deacon from Veterans Village 1 Congregation, said that it has been his conviction to be of help to his fellowmen. “It’s truly a fulfilling thing to do,” he added.
Carmela Claire Ferrer, NKTI pathology resident, said, “Many patients are in dire need of blood transfusion, like those who need to undergo operation wherein there must be enough blood supply prior to it. In the NKTI, those who have kidney problems are the most in need. That is why blood donation can truly save many lives.” On behalf of NKTI, she added, “Thank you to the Church Of Christ. Through this program we are able to collect more blood.” — With reports from INC News Section
