The Unity Games in the Ecclesiastical District of Macau held on May 1, 2022, brought the brethren closer together, bringing them joy and adding inspiration to their Christian service.
Members of the district’s four local congregations, namely Barra, Macau, San Malou, and Taipa, gathered at the stadium within the Olympic Sports Centre along Avenue Olímpica, Taipa, Macau to compete in team and individual sports with Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers officiating the games. Teams representing respective congregations played basketball, volleyball, badminton, and cheering competition. The individual sports participants battled it out in table tennis, chess, Scrabble, darts, and other board games.
A parade of colors and oath of sportsmanship signaled the beginning of the district-whole-day event, which the district staff and the ministers and ministerial workers assigned to each local congregation attended. Brother Celestino Bacsafra supervised the activity with the assistance of Brother Shandrick Earl Ang, the district CFO overseer. The district supervising minister also led the handing of trophies and awards to the winners.
“Joining activities launched by the Church Administration like this inspires us to remain steadfast in our faith in serving our Lord God. We had much joy in our hearts over the activity,” said Venus Tumamao from the Local Congregation of Macau. “Many of us here are working as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), so many of us are away from our loved ones. This activity served as a stress reliever and our bonding moment.”
“I am happy because we had the Unity Games. Through it, we somehow forgot the sadness of being away from our loved ones and, seeing the unity of the brethren in hearts and spirit, our faith strengthened,” said Abner Vinoya, from the Local Congregation of Taipa. — With reports from INC News Section
