Two months after Typhoon Rai (local name: Odette) ravaged southern Philippines, the roll out of aid provided by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) has continued. For three consecutive days, Aid to Humanity events were held by the ecclesiastical districts of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental; Carcar City, Cebu; and Bohol on February 9 to 11, 2022, respectively.
Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental
Aid to Humanity in this ecclesiastical district were simultaneously held at four major sites, which were the respective house of worship compound of the local congregations of Isabela, Bantayan, Sipalay, and Kabankalan City. 5,000 relief packages were distributed. The relief efforts were supervised by Brother Amando Bariring Jr., district supervising minister.
Vergineta Acuyan from the Local Congregation of Kabankalan City, said, “We benefited previously, right after the typhoon wreaked havoc in our province. This is the second time. I thank Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, our Executive Minister, who looks after us continuously. Most of all, I thank God Who keeps us safe in the midst of this perilous world.”
Carcar City, Cebu
“Thank you. This is a great help to my family,” said Sandy Mae Tiro, a Catholic member. Led by Brother Sergio Vista, district supervising minister, ministers and ministerial workers handed over 7,000 relief packages first to the residents in Mainggit, then those in Toledo City.
“Despite the devastation we experienced, the brethren neither lost hope nor weakened in the faith because, first of all, God’s safekeeping was felt. And the Church Administration is also there, taking care each and every one of us,” attested Brother Sergio.
Bohol
At Tagbilaran City, Bohol, many brethren volunteered to prepare 5,000 relief packages, which were then transported to other major sites, namely the respective house of worship compound of the local congregations of Getafe, Nueva Esperanza, San Jose, Talibon, Ubay, and Ubujan.
As it is the third Aid to Humanity event in Bohol District after the onslaught of calamity, Ronald Gomup-as enthused, “It feels comforting when help is at reach, and continuous.”
“We made sure that as we cater for the needs of our brethren, nonmembers were also provided,” said Brother Raul Cervantes, district supervising minister. — With reports from INC News Section
