Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Taiwan were certified as first-aid responders after gaining pertinent skills from a training workshop given by the Taipei City Red Cross on December 27, 2020 at Taipei Red Cross Training Center, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan.
Engelrey Abalos, SCAN district president, said, “The activity aimed to equip the brethren with skills which are needed in times of emergencies.”
Following lectures by Mr. Zhan Songhua, Red Cross trainer, the SCAN members participated in the hands-on demonstrations.
They learned how to help person who is choking, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and use the automated external defibrillator (AED) device properly.
After finishing the first-aid training workshop and passing written examinations, the participants were given certificates confirming them as qualified first-aid responders.
“This is very helpful not only to us but also to people who need emergency first aid,” Michael Manalo said.
“We learned so much in the activity. I, myself performed an actual scenario on how to help people in times of emergencies. That means a lot as for my experience,” said Belinda Anier. ― With reports from INC News Section
